John’s older brother Theodore Lorang had married Mary’s sister, Anna Gesellchen, about four years before this photograph, in 1874. They lived in neighboring towns of a German community in Wisconsin. John lived in Johnsburg, WI and Mary in nearby Mt. Calvary, WI.
