Mary’s cousins, from Mehring, Germany, arrived in America in the early 1880’s and then settled near Valley City, North Dakota. Mary kept in contact with her cousins during the trip to Europe in 1910, as John and Mary traveled through North Dakota on the way to and from New York. We are still in contact with these families today and these letters were sent to us to include in the story.
